SCHOLARSHIPS

PRESENTATION

The scholarships are for engineering and scientific students from universities in the Middle East and North Africa to pursue postgraduate studies (PhD) at leading scientific universities, doctoral and experimental research at institutes like the CERN.

By enabling future scientific leaders to access specialized higher education institutions, the Foundation supports their training and invests in future agents of change in their own countries – “brain gain”.

Number of scholarships funded:

  • 2 to 3per year

Cost:

  • CHF 50,000per year / per scholarship

Funding:

  • total cost of study for 3 yearsincluding accommodation, travel costs, monthly allowance for food and insurance cover.

Eligibility

Requirements

  • Applicants, all of whom have at least a Master's degree, must meet criteria based on their academic and scientific performance, merit, research relevance, innovation, leadership and social and ethical commitment.

  • Applications must be completed online on the Foundation's website before 30 August of the current year. The selected candidates will be interviewed by a jury of 5 to 7 people made up of members of the Scientific Committee.

  • The selected university undertakes to provide regular reports on the study costs and results of the selected student.
